In 1939 Barnes Original Semi-Spitzer Bullets were introduced as the first custom bullet sold to hand loaders in the U.S. While many hunters enjoy home reloading and casting serious hunters depend on these bullets for their high performance and accuracy.
These .45/70 caliber cartridges have a semi-spitzer flat base and were designed with pressure-formed 100 percent copper tubing around a core made from solid lead. A key feature of the bullets is their ability to expand over 200 percent of their original diameter upon impact. In addition these bullets can retain up to 90 percent of their initial weight.
